Traditional Pakistani Nihari Recipe (Rich Beef Stew)

Nihari is a slow-cooked stew that is deeply flavorful and comforting. Traditionally eaten as a breakfast dish, it is loved for its rich gravy and tender meat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg beef (shank preferred)
  • 2 onions (sliced)
  • 2 tbsp flour (for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • Nihari spice mix
  • Salt and oil
  • Fresh ginger (julienned)
  • Green chilies and coriander

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil and fry onions until golden.
  2. Add beef and ginger-garlic paste, cook until browned.
  3. Add nihari spices and water, then simmer on low heat for 4–5 hours.
  4. Mix flour with water and add to the stew for thickness.
  5. Cook until meat is very tender and gravy is rich.

Serving:

Garnish with ginger, green chilies, and coriander. Serve with naan.
