Chicken Biryani is one of the most beloved dishes in Pakistan. Known for its rich aroma and layered flavors, this dish combines fragrant basmati rice with spicy marinated chicken, making it perfect for family meals and special occasions.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken (cut into pieces)
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions (sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 3-4 green chilies
- Whole spices (cardamom, cloves, cinnamon)
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Fresh mint and coriander
- Oil and salt
Instructions:
- Wash and soak the rice for 30 minutes.
- Fry sliced onions until golden brown and set aside.
- In the same pot, cook chicken with ginger-garlic paste, tomatoes, yogurt, and spices.
- Cook until chicken is tender and oil separates.
- Boil rice until 70% cooked.
- Layer rice over chicken, add fried onions, mint, and coriander.
- Cover and cook on low heat (dum) for 15–20 minutes.
Serving:
Serve hot with raita and fresh salad.
